Galway based medical device company MedScan3D have announced the launch of a ground breaking range of antimicrobial products that provide enhanced protection of surfaces against the spread of Covid-19.
The newly developed AMBI Safe range has been described as a game-changer in the area of surface sterilisation both at home and in the workplace. Manufactured from an advanced antimicrobial plastic, the products prevent microbes, bacteria and viruses remaining on commonly uses surfaces. With businesses and home owners now allocating more time and resources towards surface sterilisation, the AMBI Safe range significantly reduces the time and costs required.
The AMBI Safe range has been developed in response to the challenges faced by businesses in terms of keeping commonly used surfaces such as door handles continually sterilised in an efficient manner. Since the roll out of the product range in the last number of weeks, MedScan3D Technical Director Jacqui O’Connor has seen an overwhelming response from businesses in particular.
“With the need to keep surfaces sterilised on a continuous basis, business owners have had to allocate significant time and resources to continually wipe down doors and other surfaces, which all adds additional costs to the business. AMBI Safe products range removes the need for continuous wiping down, resulting in better hygiene within the workplace while also ensuring a significant saving for business owners.”
In terms of the technology used, the AMBI Safe range of antimicrobial 3D printed products have been certified as compliant to both European and FDA standards, ensuring the products can be used across a range of sectors. The material used contains a nano-copper additive that eliminates 99.99% of fungi, viruses, bacteria and a wide range of microorganisms, while the products are all manufactured at MedScan3D’s Galway facility. While the company has a wide range of products available “off the shelf” their 3D printing technology also allows the production of custom products for particular customers.
In addition to the door handle product, AMBI Safe products have also been designed for other commonly used surfaces including light switches, door push panels, doorbells and taps. The clinically approved AMBI Face Shield, meanwhile, has already been used successfully across a range of sectors by blocking the passage of air borne vapour from the face of the user. According to O’Connor, the entire AMBI Safe range has already seen significant interest from customers.
“With the volume of enquiries we have had regarding the different products and solutions available, our team have new developed bundles of products that are targeted at different customer segments. These include the AMBI Household Bundle, the AMBI Commercial Bundle and the AMBI Industrial Bundle. These bundles allow our customers a convenient way to order and experience our range of products without having to order each product individually.”
As businesses across Ireland continue to re-open and adjust to the “new normal” way of trading, the management of surface sterilisation will continue to be a critical process in terms of keeping staff and customers protected against the spread of COVID-19.
