MedScan3D takes home the Excellence in Innovation Award at the Galway Chamber Business Awards

Leading Irish medtech company MedScan3D took home the award for Excellence in Innovation at the recent Galway Chamber Awards, pipping fellow nominees Genesys and Connacht Rugby to the honour.

Based in Galway City, MedScan3D has established itself as Ireland’s leading supplier of 3D printed anatomical models, used for a variety of applications including surgical planning, medical device development and education.

Speaking at the Galway Chamber Awards, MedScan3D founder Jacqui O’Connor was thrilled to receive the prestigious award. “We’re incredibly proud, it’s an real endorsement of all the hard work and creativity of the entire team. It was amazing just to be nominated alongside such wonderful organisations as Connacht Rugby and Genesys, so to actually win the award is amazing.”

Founded in 2019, MedScan3D has quickly gone from strength to strength, working with a range of multinational clients including Boston Scientific and Medtronic. With the adoption of 3D printing technology becoming more widespread than ever, stakeholders within medical technology have recognised the advantages of utilsing 3D printed solutions to address a range of medical requirements, particularly the benefits offered by 3D printed anatomical models.

3D anatomical models can be made in a variety of materials including silicone for applications including medical device prototyping and testing, pre-surgical planning and for educational purposes. Models can be provided as a generic “off the shelf” product, or for more complex requirements models can also be provided that are specific to a particular medical patient.
